Notice the title. If so, how much does it cost and which issues does it reprint?

Nope. Wanna swear there exists some b/w type collect of Kirby's New Gods-type stuff around, but, nah, no Archive.

Best...

Yeah, there are B&W collections of NEW GODS, MR. MIRACLE (two volumes, one called JACK KIRBY'S FOURTH WORLD), and FOREVER PEOPLE but no archives.

Man, I hope that changes some day soon. I'd love to see it all collected in a hardbound book.

In that case, does anyone know where I can find reprints of pre-Crisis tales of the New Gods?

Dc published a six-issue miniseries in the mid-80s reprinting the original 11 issue run of Kirby's New Gods. It had new wraparound covers by Kirby and the inside art was on thick Baxter paper which really made the art stand out. Each one reprinted two issues, with the last one adding a new 48-page story (issue 12, I guess it would have to be called) which more or less led to the Hunger Dogs graphic novel (not one of the King's better jobs, sadly).
They're actually not that easy to find, but they're certainly a HELL of a lot cheaper than the originals.

I never understood the reasoning for those Essentials collections. I guess if you want to get caught up on the stories, they are fine.

But I prefer seeing comics in color.

Perhaps the mail-order service of Westfield Comics or Tales of Wonder would have some tpb or singe issues available...

I've used both in the past - with excellent results.

Good hunting...

I recommend www.MileHighComics.com - they often have sales. Go to the internet store option on the left hand menu.

I'd love all of Kirby's DC stuff put into TPBs....

There's a 1985 reprint series of the NEW GODS series, that reprints the series two original issues per reprint issue

1 (reprints 1 & 2 of original series, Colletta inks)
2 (reprints 3 & 4, Colletta inks)
3 (reprints 5 and 6, Mike Royer inks begin, the series gets really good)
4 (reprints 7 and 8; issue 7 is the great origin issue, "The Pact")
5 (reprints 9 and 10, "The Bug")
6 (reprints 11, and has a new lead-in story to the HUNGER DOGS graphic novel. I like these new pages, but HUNGER DOGS was a disappointment for me)

FOREVER PEOPLE and MR MIRACLE are only available in b & w editions though, as said above.

And JIMMY OLSEN 133-139, 141-148 have never been reprinted. I'd go for low-grade reading copies of the originals, rather than go for b & w reprint volumes. (JIMMY OLSEN 140 is an all-reprint issue, with no Kirby)

My favorites are FOREVER PEOPLE and JIMMY OLSEN. Although I first read these as I gradually got all the issues at age 16-17, and at that time my favorite was NEW GODS. But they're all good.
When you do get them all, you're in for one heck of a ride !
